Nobles Corporation
provides website design and maintenance, promotional writing services, accounting,
information services and management consulting for its fully-owned companies and
associated enterprises. The following
is a synopsis of some of these enterprises.
Nobles Century Farm
has been operated by Larry and Ann Nobles since 1992.
Our thirty-acre farm is located in southeastern North Carolina in the unincorporated
farming community of China Grove,
six miles southwest of Chadbourn.
Our farm is recognized as a Century Farm by the North Carolina Department of
Agriculture and the North Carolina State Fair. The more than 1500 Century
Farms are farms that have been continuously owned by members of the same
family for more than 100 years. Ours is a typical small farm. But instead
of growing cotton, corn, soybeans, and tobacco like most of our neighbors,
we organically grow vegetables,
flowers and bamboo.
We give tours of the bamboo groves by appointment. The flowers are grown
for the honeybees and just to "pretty up things".
Porter Swamp Company was organized in 2002 to provide an outlet for our
products through the Internet. We sell fresh-dug bamboo and rhizome barrier at
Nobles Century Farm. We also ship our products to
most of the states in the mid-Atlantic region of the country.
Also associated with Nobles Corporation is The Bambusetum, a non-profit
organization with a small laboratory and growing facility. As a member
of the
American Bamboo Society, The Bambusetum is involved in research,
culture studies, and propagation of bamboo and other products which
strike our fancy, such as more than 40 varieties of Hippeastrum (commonly
called Amaryllis).
