It is recognized as a Century Farm by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and the North Carolina State Fair. The more than 1500 Century Farms are farms that have been continuously owned by members of the same family for more than 100 years.

Ours is a typical small farm. But instead of growing cotton, corn, soybeans, and tobacco like most of our neighbors, we grow vegetables, flowers and bamboo. We sell organicaly-grown vegetables (and sometimes fresh bamboo shoots) at Columbus County Community Farmers Market. We give tours of our bamboo groves and sell fresh-dug bamboo by appointment. We grow flowers for ourselves and our honeybees.
